sparred yesterday and am enjoying the soreness today . not that I cant box, I just like being dominated and it can certainly is a way to satisfy gutpunching fetishes by intentionally letting body shots in. I actually took up boxing to get gut slugged lol

It is certainly physically therapeutic. As a mid 50s wrestler it has helped me regain some lightness on my feet, better hip movement, a lot of shoulder and upper body power, balance, speed and the ability to judge distance better.

Mentally there can be no doubt that learning such a precise and complex art can do as much for your brain as learning chess.

Emotionally, it's a really happy place to be although it shares that I think with wrestling and other martial arts.

Definitely! It pushes every limit physically and mentally. It’s an amazing feeling to break through some places you thought you couldn’t. It can be scary as hell and intimidating which is part of the therapy. I haven’t found a better workout or hotter sport.

Great point about the fear factor Jake362.
The fact that boxing is hot as hell does help a lot. ;-)

To be honest no, I found a lot of ways to deal with beside damage my board. I play guitar and video games. But that's me.

It is very therapeutic for me in every way. I feel better physically, mentally, and emotionally. You learn more about yourself when you are in the ring sparring or competing.

Heard a pschycologist say this.
A release of needed aggression.
A modern day contest between two people - besides being a good physical work-out.
But NOT if someone just wants to beat the shit out of another human body...

Better than spending hours playing video games.
That was the conversation thread which started this comment.
