At the Open Gym i host at my wrestling school, we do group oil wrestling. Everyone likes coconut oil. But we also have on-hand olive oil. Add some to the plastic sheet, and have fun. Nude is best. That's how the guys do it. Or come to the open gym.
I have been engaging in nude oil wrestling since my teens and have always relied on basic baby oil. Some places sell " light " baby oil. The key is not to use only baby oil. I mix the baby oil with water. Usually 2/3 water and 1/3 oil. First mix the solution so it mixes well. The benefits are :
Does not coat the body. The water mixes well as you drench each other with the water/oil first. The solutions runs down the body, and provides a nice soothing feel against the body while wrestling.
The coconut oil to use is triple filtered coconut oil from Trader Joe's. Has no odor at all with the other benefits of coconut oil in terms of persistent slickness, mixing great with sweaty, and ease of washing with body wash or dish soap. Only caveat is that in colder climates has to be gently warmed under a hot faucet or in the microwave because solidifies about about 75 degrees – but that solidification makes for ease of transport.
hot man. IL here. Get thru Tulsa once a year or so on way to DFW. Most prefer baby oil to wrestle in but i like cooking oil. its gonna get in your mouth so id rather have something edible. lol. get a painters plastic dropcloth and go for it.
Any oil wrestling in the Tulsa/Sapulpa area? I have never tried this but would love to explore it further. What oil is used? What's the best surface for oil wrestling if it's done in a house or motel room?

Washes off in the shower much easier.
No worries about the taste or smell.

Not tried with coconut oil before, I've heard someone say it gets smelly. But it is very smooth
Regular massage oil (eg the kind sold by J&J's) is good enough, but is a mineral oil
Olive oil is great
Chocolate / cocoa butter oil is the sexiest for me. Has a masculine scent profile and makes me wanna eat my opponents :p
