in any form, BOSU or not, push ups can be terrific - and most people dont give them the credit they deserve. During covid a bunch of folks here got in a competition for the most clean, consecutive, push ups and had to submit video for proof. By the end there were only two of us not giving up and got way over 100.
It taught me a bunch of things - from how effective they could be; to the fact that I and presumably most others don't know what "to failure" means. And their ability to be effective is coincident with doign very high reps, well into the discomfort/pain (but not injury) range. On the road, when gyms are scare or time is, I'll still crank out a set or two x 50+ before coffee and shower.
Ditto pull ups.
an to daddybrian's ? yes, I liked forced reps. Can be very hot :-)
If you want to add dificulty to regular push ups. Use a BOSU balance traiber. It works the entire upper body more intensly Turned upside down it forces you to work harder. I have been doing these iver 10 years
Luctator is a very fit and well trained lad who never gives up. Even not if i force him to double the reps of his opponent to win a challenge and ready to take the consequences if he fails!!
